Until this past Friday, I had never dialed 9-1-1 and I certainly had never been transported to the hospital in an ambulance. Well......after going to the gym with Summer, I came home and started watering my potted plants outside. When I came back inside I had a funny spot in my vision, as if I had looked at the sun. For me, this means I am getting a migraine and considering that I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant, I really wasn't in the mood for one. I decided to call Zach at work and tell him he should probably come home (I am completely non-functional when I have a migraine.) By the time I found the phone and called Zach, I only had about 10% of my usual vision. I started to freak out, as I knew that this could be a sign of hypertension in pregnancy. So, poor Zach got a bad phone call at work from his very pregnant and hysterical wife!! He told me to call the doctor and then call him back. After I mis-dialed the number twice (I couldn't see, remember) I got in touch with the OB clinic. The nurse told me to immediately hang up the phone and dial 9-1-1. At this point I REALLY started to freak out! I called 9-1-1 and they immediately sent an ambulance. (Zach called right after the paramedics arrived and gave them the name of a few neighbors to come and take Summer, so she was quickly taken care of) When they got inside the house they took my blood pressure and immediately put me on oxygen and started an IV. Apparently my blood pressure was pretty high so within a few minutes I was in the back of the ambulance and on the way to the hospital. At the hospital they started a non-stress test on the baby and soon found that he/she was perfectly happy and completely unaffected by the drama of the past half hour. They oxygen and IV were successful in bringing down my blood pressure. They gave me some medicine for my migraine and within a couple of hours we were on our way back to our house. (Zach met us at the hospital about 5 minutes after I got there). It was quite an eventful day to say the least.
There are a few good things that came out of this ordeal...
1. I am now pre-registered at the closest hospital to my house.
2. It made me realize that I should probably start figuring out a plan for what to do with the kids when I go in to labor.
3. I realize I have great neighbors who are happy to help.
4. I was told this baby isn't as big as the others....yea, a "normal" size baby!!
5. I was reminded of the love my Father in Heaven has for me and that He is always watching over me and my family.
Hopefully this was the one and only time I have to call 9-1-1 and/or ride in an ambulance!

I am so glad you are okay! What a crazy day that was. Migraines are bad enough--I can't imagine one when you are pregnant.
Wow, I'm glad everything is okay. It's funny how we learn lessons from experiences like that!
What?!? That is so stinking crazy!! I'm glad everything turned out ok.
