Spring Break

Our Spring Break started off by watching Zach compete in an Olympic distance triathlon. It's been a while since we've been able to watch him race so it was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful day and he did a great job. It's always so fun to watch him. He makes me proud!!

Here are the kids waiting for Dad to come in from the bike.

And here is dad ditching his bike gear and getting ready to run.
He was amazingly fast, as usual, and we all enjoyed the nice, warm sunny California day!

On Monday we headed up to Monterey via the Pacific Coast Highway. It was an unbelievably beautiful (and nausea inducing) drive. Highway 1 takes you right along the coast for miles and miles of picturesque ocean views. It was breathtaking. There are parts that are pretty twisty and turny so I was a tad bit car sick, but it was worth it...at least once. What a wonderful gift this beautiful earth is. Everyone should put this drive on their list of things to do before they die. You won't be disappointed!!
After arriving in Monterey we headed straight for the aquarium (after a quick stop at Subway). It was so great! We've been to quite a few aquariums and this one tops the list! It was RIGHT along the ocean. There are places where you can walk right out and be over the water. Beautiful!! The kids had a great time. We even saw a few otters swimming along in the ocean. After the aquarium we ate dinner over the water at a nice little seafood place and then headed to the hotel for the night.
Here we are on one of the decks at the aquarium.

The next morning we got up and drove to Merced to spend some time with Zach's grandparents. It is always so fun to be at their house. They are fabulous hosts and they always make us feel so welcome. Grandma spent way too much time in the kitchen, but we appreciated all of the yummy food!! We love being closer to them and look forward to another visit this Summer.

The kids can't get enough of "the pit". Even Addie played down in it this time!

We love you Grandpa and Grandma. Thanks for everything!!

Cute pics!

HA! I have taken that Highway 1 drive before. We started in San Luis Obispo and ended in San Fran. It is really beautiful, but we really appreciated the interstate once we got there.
