Exhibit A (for Abe)

Our blogs generate few comments. Only one other post has evoked such visceral repartee. It was when Ginet asked what folks thought of FB. Apparently though our devoted readership has some thoughts on their beloved doughnuts. Thanks for sharing your opinions. My theory may not be as strong as I thought, but my sample size isn't enough to be statistically significant so I'm reluctant to toss it out just yet. If indeed Mormons like maple bars in a statistically significant way the next question is why? I would have thought perhaps it's a link back to the church's earliest days in New England, where trees are tapped for maple. But I may be off there, because as Abe and Ez's reactions suggest, the right coast may not be too acquinted with maple bars, in fact cursory research suggested their roots to be in the Pacific NW.

Abe (and Ez, and I'm assuming Michelle, but it could be Jon) didn't know what a maple bar was. Here's a picture :

As I looked around for a picture I came across this delicacy:

Yep that's right...a hot dog, wrapped in the devil's candy, with a maple bar masquerading as a hot dog bun. I don't know if it's brilliance or madness, but I'll admit I'm awfully tempted to try it. The dish I really want to try though is the Bacon Explosion. Here's a picture:

It's a mat of bacon covered in a layer of sausage, bbq seasoning, chunks of bacon, then rolled up and cooked. Please stop drooling, you'll wreck your keyboard.

Hey, my family the Bjorn's used to devour the low budget version of that. We would take Svenhardts rolls and put bologne on top. Voile a tasty treat for every road trip cleverly called "rolls and bologne" This has been going on for generations. I must say the chefs of your creation are on to something, theirs is just a tad classier. Give it a try, you'll either love it, or lose your lunch.

After looking at those pictures my arteries just clogged a little.

My uncle sent me a picture of a donut they bought at a Macey's here in town. It was maple bar cut in half with a another donut made to look like a hot dog placed in the center. Than they put red frosting on top to look like ketchup. People like their maple bars. I have to agree.
